here are just a couple of things that the gremlins have done lately to bring on the belly laughs for austin and me:
ava: i recently took my youngest cherub to a baby shower. i knew that things would get difficult around the 3rd or 4th minute that we were there. she was wiggly. and "precocious", if you will. when my cousin began opening her gifts, i tried my best to keep ava out of every.single.picture that was being taken. but my girl likes to be front and center. the longer i tried to restrain her on my lap, the wigglier and louder she got. finally, i leaned down close to her ear and said, "you need to STOP showing your tail" (which here in the south means that you'd best straighten up quick!). ava turned around and said (loudly) to me, "but momma, i don't HAVE a tail!". needless to say, i had to laugh right along with everyone around me who heard her. i think my cousin is a liiiiittle more nervous about having that baby now too ;)
hannah: hannah is our "literal lucy". i think that i've posted before about her "p's and q's" comment. well the other night at supper we were talking and i said something about us "living off the land". hannah looked at me and said, "living off the land? but we don't live over water!". i did that whole blank stare deal for a second until i realized that to her, "off the land" would have to be over water!
chandler: chan the man is five years old now. and apparently five year old boys like to hang out around the house in their underwear. that is his current standard uniform for lounging and for sleep. the last few weeks have had some colder weather here. and i am one of those people who get cold in the summertime so i'm always convinced that if i'm cold, everyone must be cold. i hate the idea of my children getting chilly at night so it just weirds me out that he only wants undies and a light blanket. the lad is a space heater though and is NEVER cold. anyhow, one night it was supposed to get below freezing. i looked at his little underwear clad self and told him he needed to go in his room and put on something more than that. he reluctantly went in and then came out 5 minutes later......and had put on socks. what a goober! i had to concede defeat on that one ;)
i love having kids who keep us smiling!

Agreed, they are good for that, aren't they? and yes, underwear IS the best fashion choice for boys- around here at least!
Now, go put your tail away.
